INSP street papers now reach 6 million culturally-engaged, socially-responsible readers per edition. Recognising the need to keep an eye on future sustainability, this impressive statistic is enabling INSP to explore how this potential consumer power can be developed into a regular, sustained revenue for individual street papers and the network as a whole.
In 2010, INSP worked with an experienced business development partner in Montréal in order to develop this concept, and secured its first advertising client (the Ministry of Tourism, Québec). This pilot project raised £20,000, helping more than 30 street papers to attend the conference in Melbourne (Australia) in May 2010. [See below left - advert in The Big Issue Japan].
In 2011 and 2012, INSP brokered advertising deals with Philips Healthcare. The two deals, worth over €23,000, brought in advertising revenue for INSP and several European street papers [See below right - advert in Terre di Mezzo, Italy]
